First of all " Who is Bluntmosphere" ?

I'm an 18 year old producer based in Zürich, Switzerland. I committed myself to music. There's nothing more relaxing than a glass of milk, some records and my MPC on a sunny afternoon...

What is the main piece of gear you use and why ?

The MPC 4000  is the center of my little home studio. I often use various instruments like fender rhodes  or guitars in my production. They can easily be recorded into the MPC with great quality even while the sequence is playing. Chopping is nice, the sequencing is amazing. Sometimes when I'm not in the mood to mess around with hardware gear I use Fruity Loops, which is a great program. Especially the effects section is very nice as well as the vst-support.

"Sample based" beats vs. "played from scratch" beats ... where do you stand ?

That really depends. I should say in the middle. Mostly I combine the best of both worlds. Samples are just great to add a more organic feel to the mix. Sometimes I start off with a sample and add some keys or synths, sometimes I only use instruments. I don't want to tie myself down to one way.

Why do you think yours was the 3rd winning beat of BB004?

Maybe because I have established some skills over the years and there are probably also beginners who attempted the battle but hell, I don't know. You chose the beats:)

Whose beat of BB004 would you see win the contest? What were your top 3 picks?

I really liked the FS Green beat the most, so there's nothing wrong with the first place. TG3 is very fresh, too. That would be my second pick. Elfer would go third. Matt Cox also did some proper production. Great work y'all!

How much time do you spend on your music, how many beats per week/day do you make ?

As I am busy with studies I don't have that much time anymore, but I still make about five or six beats per week. Things will change as soon as I graduated.

When did your production start to happen ?

I got into production about four years ago in 2003. I was amazed instantly and bought FL 3.5 right away. Over the years I added various instruments to my home studio.

What are you working on presently ?

I'm working on some collabos with O-Phrap and H-Dot from the Pusher Price Clique. Great MC's! I have plenty of beats so either there will be an instrumental project or I will get in touch with more fine lyricists.

What is more important : diggin skills or chopping skills?

20 % diggin' , 80 % choppin'. A good beat maker to me is someone, who can work with any sample and make a fine beat. I don't see any excitement in simply looping up some stuff. Chopping gives me the impression of having created something by myself. It allows me to add my own touch and make the beat sound just as I want it to.

I'm always on the lookout for collabos so check my space and get at me, you MC's out there!
